Boxing in the 71kg light middleweight champion, he went one better than the second place of last year with a win this year. The sport reflects the rules of Olympic boxing, and Ross has been regional champion as well as a national force.
“I’ve put in a lot of work and it paid off in the end” Ross said in a post fight interview. He fought three times to take the win, facing a multiple Scottish Champion in the final. Ross’ opponent was previously unbeaten in eleven matches; Ross took the win with unanimous decision.
Vegan fighter
Ross is approaching ten years vegan.
“My family adopted a dog in September 2013, it what made me realise how sentient animals were, it completely changed how I looked at them” he says. He went vegetarian instantly, and 2014’s New Year resolution was to go vegan.
“A few weeks after that I noticed the health, fitness and recovery benefits and when Cowspiracy came out is when I realised I was doing all the right things for the environment as well.”
Congratulations to Ross on his success in this demanding and fiercely competitive sport.
