2189 mile World record attempt for Scott
With so many course records and high profile ultramarathon wins, Scott Jurek might have been considered to have achieved everything. At the time of writing he’s making a speed record attempt on the Appalachian Trail.
The Trail is one of the longest footpaths in the world, stretching 2189 miles across America, passing through 14 states. By the time he completes it, Scott will have completed a height gain equivalent to climbing Everest 16 times. The 41 year old vegan set off on May 27th attempting to beat the record of 46 days 11 hours.
By the time of writing (June 13th) he’d completed 800 miles at a rate of 50 per day, ahead of schedule – the previous record averaged 47 miles per day.
