Course record in Hong Kong
December saw Vlad continue his outstanding year with a run at The North Face Hong Kong 50k race, one of the biggest races in Hong Kong. For Vlad it came after a number of other races.
“I knew I wasn’t in top shape” Vlad told us afterwards “so I just tried to take it easy at the start and enjoy the views.” Vlad found his excellent condition was showing through and he was running better than expected.
“Luckily my legs felt OK so I built up a lead and just ran nice and easy.” Vlad went on to win convincingly in 5:40:48, over 26 minutes ahead of the second placed runner and with only two runners within an hour of his time. He also beat the course record.
“I was happy to win and break the course record” said Vlad “and I ran almost 30 minutes faster than last year.”
