The rise of Dr Kamlund: vegan power grows at World Championships
Earlier this year we reported on Fia Kamlund’s competition where she posted a personal best. She’s beaten it again at the World Powerlifting Championships.
The Swedish Champion weighed in to compete in the 84 kg (equipped) category alongside the world’s best. She squatted 220 kg, benched 165 kg and deadlifted 190 kg. This gave her a total of 575 kg, an increase of 10 kg on her massive total at the Swedish nationals.
It included a 5kg increase on her benchpress as she closes in on the national record of 170 kg.
“I am very happy with the competition and know that there are a few more kilos” she says.
Dr Kamlund has been vegan since 2012 for ethical reasons.
“I was lacto-ovo vegetarian before that and I when I realised the connection between meat industry and how they treated animals also in milk and egg industry I went vegan.”
